Finally, the Best Yeast-Free Pizza Dough (Vegan)
I've made a lot of yeast-free pizza doughs in the past few years, always striving to nail it- to finally proclaim it 'The Best!' It's yet to happen. I don't usually make the same recipe twice because it tastes fine, but I want better than fine. After all, it's pizza dough! I think we reached the milestone tonight.
I followed a standard dough recipe for the bread machine, but swapped out baking powder and vitamin C for the yeast. I read you could do this, but found little direction as to how. Then I came across a suggestion to use 1 part baking powder and 1 part vitamin C for the yeast. Rather than just use a teaspoon of each, I used a tablespoon. Going for the punch (well, we hoped!). I also added apple cider vinegar to help it rise. While the original recipe called for sugar, I replaced it with honey. Since honey isn't technically vegan, you could either use sugar or another sweetener to make it vegan. Enjoy!
The Best Yeast-Free Pizza Dough
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 tablespoon Vitamin C (I used Source Naturals Vitamin C sodium ascorbate crystals)
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 cup + 2 tablespoons water
Place ingredients together in bread machine and choose the dough setting. Once it's kneaded, remove and roll out for pizza dough or calzones. You don't really need a bread machine, I was just lazy and didn't feel like kneading it myself!
